Our first week as tomango

January 11, 2013 by Mark Vaesen

Wow, what a week – our first trading under our new name tomango!

On Monday (7th Jan) we started trading under our new business name, tomango.  Following our merger with local online marketing specialists Jupiter Colour, we decided that the time was right to say a fond farewell to Blue Planet after a wonderful 13 years together and say hello to tomango.

Why did you change your name?

One of the services that we have recently started offering is Brand Naming.  To be honest, not a great deal of logical thought went into the name Blue Planet Internet Solutions when we started way back in 2000, and we didn’t think it was right to offer to help businesses decide on their name when we hadn’t gone through the process for ourselves.  On top of that, Blue Planet Internet Solutions doesn’t really reflect what we do now, so we decided it was time for a change.

tomango is here!

Why tomango?

We’ve written a previous blog post that goes into more detail about how we chose the name tomango, but in short, a tomango is a variety of orange from South Africa (but you didn’t know that).  During our brainstorming sessions, we kept coming back to the idea of something to do with fruit, cos it’s fresh and zesty and all that – and tomango stood out and then stuck.

Come and have a look

The new website is now live at and we’re rather pleased with it (well, we would say that, wouldn’t we?)  Why not swing by and have a look at what we do and some of our most recent work?

Our first week

Our first week has certainly been very eventful.  Monday itself saw the new website going through final testing and tweaking before being launched.  This was followed by updates to our twitter account (we’re now tweeting as @tomangoUK) and Facebook profile.

This week we’ve had about half a dozen enquiries for new websites, new brands and online marketing campaigns.  We’ve also won three new contracts – a website build and two online marketing contracts – so it’s been a great start.  Long may it continue!

Thank you to all of you for the good wishes and compliments on the new website.  We look forward to working with you in the future as tomango.
